Maxed Out takes viewers on a journey deep inside the American style of debt, where things seem fine as long as the minimum monthly payment arrives on time. With coverage that spans from small American towns all the way to the White House, the film shows how the modern financial industry really works, explains the true definition of "preferred customer" and tells us why the poor are getting poorer while the rich keep getting richer. Hilarious, shocking and incisive, Maxed Out paints a picture of a national nightmare which is all too real for most of us. Great for college students.

The latest bailout package comes to $2.25 trillion, triple the size of the original $700 billion Amazingly the FED has been paying these bankers 188 billion a day all alongAltogether, the worlds markets over the past four weeks saw $11 trillion worth of assets wiped out. This sum corresponds to virtually the entire annual gross national product of the US, or the European Union.

I definitely feel no sympathy for peopel that put themselves in CC debt. But it doesnt mean I will ignore that the CC companies business is to put people in debt to take the most money from people.A business like that cannot be forgiven.

I agree with you that these people are partly to blame. But CC companies are definitely predators because of the tactics they use.People want to better their lives, they are convinced to be consumers by decades of repub messages. You heard bush, your doing your part for america, and that sadly has been a driving force for decades. You get these companies using tactics that are known to influence people, and they want people in debt, because thats where they make their money.

Good movie, I rented this over the weekend, while it is one sided, it does expose the gross abuse of the Credit Card companies. Of course the consumer shares the blame, but that can easily be another documentary.

It amazes me how people still casually overlook the true cause of all of this. Their own greed and wanting "stuff" to bolster their identity (The word identity originates from the word Edem, which means "To make same"). We learn that we need things to make ourselves happy, this cannot be done outside of ourselves. So, the CC companies may be there, but to call them preditory to me is a stretch. A preditor cannot be a preditor without a prey...who in this case, is NOT an innocent victim.

he probably meant 96,000 and his inability to distinguish 96,000 from 960,000 didn't help his judgment when using these credit cards did it?

REVOLUTION TODAY! Lets get organized, save people like us, kill who gets in our way, prosecute the others, and make this a better country and world. It just takes us, lets get on it!!!

This movie actually made me cry today. It angers me as a consumer but it also inspires me to go into credit/loan situations defensively. It's sickening how debt can be capitalized on...arming yourself with knowledge is the first step to avoiding becoming a victim.

'W' promised tax cuts. He kept his promise and arranged tax cuts almost 2x 700 billion dollars. Now he bags to give it back to 'save the nation'.'W' also made a law that allowed mortgages taken by people who could not afford them. Then he urged the people to spend money, so the economy looked better than it was. Then Alan Greenspan (FED) said there was NO housing bubble and not to worry. This was known for years. But US media are controlled by crooks. There's more involved than preditor loans.
